Our super fun Client Services Director Mark did his bit for Charity a few weeks ago and successfully completed the mammoth Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge! For those of you that aren’t familiar with the challenge, it takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, and the challenge is to climb and descend all 3 in under 12 hours.
Mark was part of a team from his local village, Bramhope, that was headed up by local shopkeeper Tariq. The charity they supported was The Candlelighters Trust (Candlelighters). They’re Yorkshire’s pre-eminent children’s cancer charity, providing practical, emotional and financial support to children living with cancer in Yorkshire and their families. A very worthy cause!
The team tackled the peaks like pros, the weather held up so they managed to stay dry throughout and they enjoyed the spectacular views at the summit of each peak. Unfortunately, they lost two members of the squad along the way – one with a twisted ankle and the other to a knee injury – ouch! But don’t worry, they’re both on the road to recovery ?.
In the end, INK’s super trooper Mark and the rest of the team finished the challenge in an amazing 10 hours and 50 minutes, a whopping 1 hour and 10 minutes under the 12-hour challenge time! And even better, they’ve managed to raise a fantastic £2,003 for Candlelighters!
